Today, I arrived at the Chengdu Shuang Liu International Airport at 3.15pm. My father and grandmother came to fetch me home. On the car, I saw the Chengdu city undergoing great transformation. After a chat with my father and grandmother about my life in Singapore, we reached Cao Shi Street, where my father lives. I alighted there and my grandmother went back to her house.
Just now, my father took me out for a stroll and we had dinner at Wen Shu Court, near our Times Impression Condomenium. I was amazed by the 'ancient' buildings there. The whole court made me feel as if I were in ancient times. We saw many shops, some selling Sichuanese sewing products or shu jin, while others sold local food and snacks. We enjoyed our Pig's Intestine Vermicelli, or fei chang fen, and went on to enjoy another meal of BBQ food in a BBQ restaurant.
Last time, BBQ sellers in Chengdu usually run stalls near the junctions of roads. Though many people would come and buy their BBQ foods, this also contributed to air pollution. Now, their BBQ businesses are made indoors-in BBQ restaurants. As a result, Chengdu is now a better and cleaner city to live in, while people can still enjoy their favourite BBQ foodstuffs.
Interestingly, just 3 hours after my arrival in Chengdu, the Prime Minister of Republic of Singapore, H.E. Mr Lee Hsien Loong, also arrived in Chengdu, for a 3-day visit. Click here for the news updates, video and photos of his trip.
I will be back with more while continue to discover the Land of Abundance-Chengdu city. Stay tuned!
