SINGAPORE : It was a much anticipated match as Singapore hosted China in the return leg of the Asian Cup qualifier Group E tie on Wednesday.
The visitors had beaten Singapore in the first encounter in China and on Wednesday the two teams played to a goalless draw at the National Stadium.
It was the big match for the Lions in front of the home crowd but visitors China were the more determined side in the opening minutes.
Singapore's goalkeeper Lionel Lewis helped to keep a clean sheet for the host.
Singapore came close to breaking the deadlock, and did put the ball in the back of the net.

Mohammad Shahril's 30th minute goal was to no avail as he had handled the ball.
In the second half, the deadlock continued as both teams could not find the elusive goal.
The draw puts China at the top of Group E with seven points, ahead of Iraq, which has 6 points.
